Sunday Morning

Another week has come and gone in February! Today starts a new one, and it's the last full week of the month. Wow! Talk about time flying! I love that I am so busy that the days are just going so fast. It has been oddly warm around here for the past week. Not complaining though, because this winter has been brutal. Hopefully this is a sign that Spring is closer than expected!

Last time I updated I was hating my field experience observation. Since then, it has improved. I taught two lessons to 2nd graders. One was a shared reading, and one was the writing process. The writing process was harder than I thought just because they are just starting to grasp the concept of sentences and how to write. The writing process is more for 3rd grade and up. But, it was smooth, and their ideas were so cool. The topic was "What I want to be when I grow up." I was pleased with how it turned out.

I have 4 more days, and I'll have another observation out of the way. Only one more after this!! I can't believe that I am finally able to say that. I'm getting so, so close. More and more excited. And I think that is one reason why I am not enjoying field experience very much this time. I'm ready to be the leader instead of sitting on the sidelines. I also hope that I get a job when I graduate. Teaching is on a downside right now, so it is not the best field to be in. But we always need teachers!!

Wee Bit!

{one} what is your favorite breakfast food?
Pancakes!!

{two} how many pairs of shoes do you currently own?
Probably near 15. Flats, boots, flip flops, and one pair of tennis shoes that I work in.

{three} city or country?
City any day. Which is odd because I grew up in the country. But when I moved to the city for a couple years I was hooked!

{four} what is your favorite part of your job?
The hours and the people. They help me so much while I'm in school.

{five} what is your favorite junk food to snack on?
Andy Capp's Hot Fries! Followed by some chocolate. So good!

{six} have you ever been mentioned in the newspaper?
Yes! Once for a job that I got because he had a grand opening. Once for a scholarship I received in high school. And once for Homecoming in high school.

{seven} do you use post-it notes?
Sometimes. I use those little, skinny post-its to mark important pages in my textbooks a lot.

{eight} do you have freckles?
Just specks here and there.

{nine} is it okay for men to wear pink?
If they want to I guess! Some it works on, and some it doesn't.

{ten} when was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper?
Probably in high school.

Simple Struggle

I have decided that I am offically supposed to hate this semester's field experience. I don't know if it is because last semester's was so....amazing, wonderful, fun, filled with learning and socializing....That doesn't begin to touch how much I loved field experience last semester. This time is just not doing anything for me...yet.

Okay Okay, so today was day 2. I guess I shouldn't be judging if I will hate it or not so soon. The teachers are wonderful people, and I feel welcomed and all. BUT, something just doesn't seem right!! One thing is for sure, I am learning what not to do.

Tomorrow, I go to a different grade to start discussing my lesson plan with the teacher. Next week, I teach my lesson with a professor monitoring my every move. This is the first time that I have been monitored while doing field experience. Talk about more nervous than before! I have tons of assignments to do for this semester's field experience too. Two lessons, interviews, and reviews.

I know that I can do it, and I know that in the end I'll be satisfied. Content. Flat out happy to be out of school, and in school at the same time!

100

This is my 100th post! I think that is pretty cool. I ramble on about different things and post a few questionnaires.  It must be pretty interesting because I have a few comments every once in a while. Which is awesome! So, I'm gonna do this little post that I stole from ~H.

Reading: Textbooks right now. I had to put down that book that I was talking about in my Christmas post. Some of my textbooks are interesting.

Looking forward to: Spring and Summer!! short sleeves, windows down, flip flops!!

Stressing about: Work, school, and this nasty weather! When ice and snow are involved, driving is not happening. I worry about driving on it, and whether I can make it to work or not. I honestly can't afford to miss work. The way it is looking right now, I won't make it to work tomorrow :(

Craving: Some really good Mexican food!! Like, Rosie's or Margarita's Restaurant food!

Wanting: My bills paid, and school to be over. So I can spend freely, and teach my own class!

Proud of myself for: Staying in school and working my job. It's rough, and I have managed to work the whole time I've been in college. I don't see how I do it!

Wearing: My scrubs from work. I still haven't changed. But I'm warm, that is all that matters ha!

Avoiding: Shopping. It is my huge weakness. I have withdraws kinda if I don't get to shop at least every other weekend.

Sick of: Old man winter. Snow, ice, and bone-cutting wind.

Learning: What I need to know when I start teaching. Patience. Giving a certain interest space.

Suffering from: The cold! Luckily, I'm not sick right now. The only thing that I am suffering from is migraines. What used to be occasional, has turned into about one to two a week. They are the worst ever!

Struggling with: Being content with what God has given me, rather than wanting what He won't give me because He is taking care of me. He gives us what He knows we need, and right now, what I want doesn't go with what I need. I know He has a plan, and I'm struggling to go along with Him. I won't give up this struggle though!

Overcoming: Hmm.....

Hoping to: Work! Finish school, and get in my own classroom soon.

Excited for: Finishing school. Yes, that is pretty much all that goes on in my life! And what all could happen this year. Ready to see how it goes.

Relieved by: That I am almost finished with school. Gosh, my life is boring! All I talk about is school and work. Yuck!

Splurging on: Nothing!! Sadly. But when I do get on top, I'll be splurging on eating out and shopping!!
