Lost Touch

It has been a whole week since my last post. I am skipping Random Dozen since it has been so long. So....Let's see, where to start.....

My brother is playing little league basketball this year. He absolutely loves it! They have a K-2 grade team, and they are divided into 4 groups. They play each other, not other teams or schools. They are not that far yet haha. He is doing really good and is getting better. I can't imagine what this age group is going to be like when they get older if they keep playing every year.

I caught that nasty stomach bug that is going around. From reading other blogs, it seems the bug is sweeping the nation! Chad brought it home. I went to observation that same week where the whole elementary was sharing it. So i was bound to catch it. I am a fighter, especially with viruses. So most of mine was a terrible nauseated feeling. Today, I was back to myself.

Observation is going good. I was in a Kindergarten classroom for three days, and today I was in 2nd grade. Today was bliss for me. I loved the whole day, and it went by so fast. The teacher was great, the kids were so awesome, and I can see why that teacher is spoiled.....such great kids. I hope I have a group that good!!

We had a "Spring Preview" this past weekend. I think it spoiled me. This cold weather coming back just flat out sucks. If spring is going to feel as good as Sunday felt, I can't hardly wait!!

Random Dozen Wednesday And Fun

1. If you could compete in one Olympic event (not necessarily winter sports) what would it be?
I used to love watching the Ice Skating Competition when I was little. If I could skate as good as those people, I would love to do that.

2. Do remember a specific Olympic moment from the past?
Not really. I remember Scott Hamilton skating a lot. That is the only thing I ever watched.

3. Have you ever known anyone who competed in the Olympics?
Nah. That would be cool though.

4. If everyday activities were Olympic-worthy, which activity would you have a gold medal in?
Texting!!!!

5. Do you know anything about your ethnic heritage?
Not very much. I know that Indian is there.

6. Do you enjoy sleeping late?
No. I used to like it so much. But now it makes me cranky. The latest I can sleep is 9:30. It used to be noon, sometimes later!

7. Have you ever performed CPR on anyone? Do you know how?
No I haven't. In high school we had a health class that we learned how on dummies, but I can't remember how to do it lol.

8. Name one country you'd like to visit and explain why.
Italy. I love Italian food, the scenery is beautiful, there are so many huge churches to visit. The Arts are great. That is my favorite accent to hear. I would love going there. It is halfway on my "to do" list. I hope to go before I'm 40.

9. Have you ever fixed up a couple romantically?
Not that I can remember. I don't usually get into other people's biz like that.

10. What is the last book you read?
Laughter For A Woman's Soul

11. What is your favorite season?
I really like fall. Scenery is pretty here, and the temperatures are wonderful. I am longing for Spring to get here!!

12. What is your favorite meal at your favorite restaurant?
I really like the chicken tacos at Chili's. That is pretty much the only thing I order. They have like 5 different kinds. Oh! And I also get the quesadilla's. Those are awesome.

The ice finally melted! I finally got out, and it felt good. The sun is shining, and it just feels so much better. I woke up early, got ready, and headed out. I shopped around, and ran into a guy that I went to school with. Last I talked to him, he went back to California where he is from. He came back for a while, and is working in town. I came home with four spring-like shirts, a belt, and some black flats. When I came home, my grandmother came over. She asked me to go with her to my Great-grandmother's house to see if I would like to have any of her belongings. She passed away a few weeks ago. She had a lot of stuff, and they are wanting to give it to family members.

I picked out a tabletop ironing board.....never know when that will come in handy. If I get my own place, that will be better on space saving than a big board. She liked cats, and had many cat set-arounds. There was this one that I remember from going up there when I was little. So I decided to take it as a way to remember the house, and her. It is shiny ceramic, with pretty painted green eyes. I also put my eyes on a ceramic angel, holding a bird, sitting beside the Cross. I love it. It is so cute.

After going through her things, they had laid a few of her jackets on the couch. She wore jackets a lot to church and around her house. I remember she always had a jacket on when we visited. On the bottom of the stack, there was a Houndstooth jacket. I have always wanted one. This one has either never been worn, or barely worn. It is wonderful shape, and so pretty. I also brought a solid charcoal gray jacket too. They are light wool, and I have always liked those type of coats, but never could afford them, or wanted to put that much into one. Something to remember her by.

I go back to observation tomorrow. I am ready to finish that up, wrap up the semester, and have a break!

Snow, Snow, Go Away

Yes it is snowing once again. This is getting so old!! It is really pretty when it is coming down, and the trees and yards are beautiful, but my goodness. The roads are covered, it is freezing cold, and the wind is blowing. I live on the mountain, and one thing that I have learned from living here and the valleys, the wind is awful up here. When it is windy up here, it is still in the valley. I don't like living up here, but I know one day that will change. My family and I will both be off this mountain before long.

So it has been extremely boring for a while. I am cold natured, so I can't hardly stand going outside when it is like this. I have been working on homework, watching some season tv shows, and paying attention to the news. I usually don't have time to watch seasonal television, but I am glad I have that right now. I love watching The Bachelor. I always keep up with American Idol. I have also grown fond of Grey's Anatomy. I am a little late on that show, seeing that this is their sixth season, but I still like it. I slowly learned what had happened before. Since I am not working at CVS anymore, I finally get to watch General Hospital on a regular basis. I absolutely love that show. I have watched it ever since I was little. I also started watching The Mentalist. It is so funny, and Simon Baker plays the part so well.

School has been going pretty good this semester. It is no where near as hard as last semester, and a lot less work. Art is the only class I can't stand. We have to actually do art projects. It is not an appreciation class. The easiest class this time is Teaching Math in the Primary Grades. Breeze. The tests are fairly easy, and that is all we have besides one lesson plan project. I am already halfway done with this semester, and I will have 3 more to go. That is not counting student teaching.

I am so excited that I am getting so close to finishing. I'm almost to the point where I can start counting down the days!!

Fact

So here is some information that is flat out interesting to me. Since I am a weather buff! As everyone knows, the weather pattern this winter has been out of this world crazy. Bitter cold. Snow. Tornado. Snow. And snow again. How the tornado came between two snow fronts is fascinating. Anywho, mom told me earlier some cool information about the Nation and weather:

49 states had snow fall today. Which state didn't see any snow?

This is so easy. So awesome. And so true. I just wonder what happened to global warming?? That used to be all that was talked about almost, and now the whole nation (minus one) received snow today. I'm very much ready for spring, so anytime, you can show right up!! They are predicting a rough spring weather wise. That is the part I am not fond of. I would love to see a tornado in person, but far away please.

Today something terrible happened at UAH. A faculty member opened fire during a biology staff meeting, killing three other faculty members. Rumor is, the faculty member was denied tenure earlier this morning. She later went to a faculty meeting, and shot other members. You wouldn't think something this tragic would happen in our small area, and yet this is the second Friday in a row a tragedy has struck. Prayers go to all the families, faculty, and the students of UAH.

Random Dozen Wednesday

1. Are you pleasant when you're ill, or are you a grumpy, fussy patient?
I'm extremely grumpy, snappy, flat out terrible when I am in an ill mood. My own family can't stand to be around me!!

2. When you find out that school is canceled (due to inclement weather) what is your gut reaction?
Yay! Although in college, it doesn't really matter as much as if it happened while in high school.

3. What is one domestic skill you wish you could improve?
I guess I would like to cook more. Try new things. I stay on top of all the domestic skills

4. Do you decorate your home for Valentine's Day?
No. I'm not a big fan of V-Day. I still haven't figured out why everyone should appreciate their love one day out of the year? Buy flowers once a week, or celebrate your love throughout the year. I know people do, so in my opinion, do away with V-Day =)

5. What song is on your mind today?
Nothing in particular. Daughtry is on the radio right now with "No Surprise." Crank it up! Love me some Daughtry!

6. Do you prefer contemporary movies or classic?
I like both. I love any kind of movies accept horror movies. Those freak me out.

7. How well do you "compartmentalize" your feelings? For example, how well can you put aside a really trying moment to deal with the immediate situation which is not related to the trying moment, e.g., putting aside a tiff with your spouse in order to finish wallpapering a room.
Very well. I do that all the time.

8. What is the first thing that attracted you to your spouse? (Or if you're single, to your best friend.)
Eyes, and caringness......I just made a word lol

9. When was the last time your heart raced?
Yesterday going up section mountain to school. Long story.....

10. What are your memories of Valentine's Day at school?
High school.....One year I helped with delivering roses from classmates to classmates, we did a lot that year. And I also got the best bouquet of flowers from my bf lol.

11. If you were going to receive candy for Valentine's Day, which would you prefer?
Dove milk chocolate for any occasion. Just because you feel like sharing some chocolate with me, dove!!

12. Red or pink?
I like red. Pink is okay sometimes, but I have really started liking red the past few years.

Busy In This Mess

This winter weather is driving me insane!! It hasn't snowed off and on like this in a few years. It seems like every week we get a little snow here lately. Today's snow was a surprise, and we are supposed to get more this weekend. Blah!! When is spring coming??

Time is going by so fast. I can't believe it is already February. I'm halfway finished with this semester. It is time to apply for Pell Grants again. Goodness!! Where is the time going?? Sometimes I think, "Don't complain! That means you are that much closer to your degree and no more college work!" Then I think of what it will be like when that time actually comes. I am so used to being in school, what will I do? I will hopefully have plenty to do. I will be interviewing at schools. Setting up my classroom. Talking to my students and their parents. Teaching students what they need to know. It doesn't seem real sometimes. I have wanted it for so long, and it is finally creeping up.

Last week (1-6) was pretty hectic. I worked in Woodville Monday. Tuesday, went to town which was a waste. Couldn't get what I needed. Wednesday, I worked in Paint Rock Valley. Thursday, I got my hair cut and had class that night. Friday, I headed to Athens to take a test. Mom went with me, and I had fun. Saturday, me and Trav got up super early to head to the mall to meet another Bama player.

This week is another busy one. I am most looking forward Thursday night......the concert is finally here!!

Catching Up

I have been rather busy for the past few days. I have wanted to post, but something always gets in the way. Homework has overcome everything, and we have been going out a lot here lately. Mom and I were gone pretty much everyday last week running errands.

Monday, we put in for a job for mom in Huntsville. Traveled to the mall for lunch, and a quick walk around the mall where I purchased an "Alice In Wonderland" keychain. I can't wait for that movie to come out!! Tuesday, I had class. So I was the one that was out that day. Wednesday, we headed to the Boro for a while to take care of a few things where I ran into my old friend Alicia, her husband, and little man. He is growing up so fast! Ten months old already! Thursday, back to Huntsville to purchase some concert tickets for February 11th. I'm extremely excited about this concert!! Then, our traveling came to a halt on Friday when snow and sleet kept us in.

This week has started busy as well. I know, it's only Monday! I worked today in Woodville. I could possibly be working tomorrow. I need to go to the library this week to gather books for my lesson plan. Haircut with Britt on Thursday. A test at Athens on Friday. Goodness me!!

My little Zoey was sick last week. She wouldn't eat her food, and I was starting to worry. She is already little, she might weigh 10 pounds. This sick spell made her even smaller. With a little bit of medicine, she is back to herself. She is so adorable, a handful, and annoying at times. I need to take her to the vet, and it looks like that is going to be put on hold once again.

I went to see Rolando McClain last Saturday. It was fun talking to the surrounding people. I only saw two people that I actually knew. And, we were on the news for a split second haha! It was fun, and hopefully we will get to do it again sometime!
